To Live Amongst Barbarians

Oh wow, haven't tried to draw her in forever.

Some of you (albeit very few) may/may not recognize her. She used to be my main OC when I was REALLY into drawing anthro stuff (yes, she was part animal...a Sonic character, actually.) and her name was Lorathena.

I always loved the story I'd put together for Lorathena. It was strongly based on my influence from the game Jak 3 regarding the wasteland city, Spargus. That being said, Lorathena was born in the desert in this city of refugees (I tweaked the Jak story a bit) where women were inferior and men trained to be warriors. Lorathena's father was killed in the desert and buried under the sand during a storm when Lorathena was 9 (I think..?) and she chose to become the one female who broke the rules and stole from the education centers (only for men) and used her knowledge to become a true warrior to avenge her father's death. She also was unable to get any actual paying jobs, thanks to her status, and relied of theft, street scams, and marauding in order to bring home food for herself and her mother. At the same time, her widowed mother became the king of the city's concubine in order to keep her rebellious daughter protected from the cruel rules of the wasteland.

It sounds a little bit like a weird version of Mulan XD There's more to her story, but I'd rather not get too into it, since at one point I considered writing an original story about it.

ANYWAY, this is a newer drawing of how I'd imagine a grown up Lorathena in a human form, as would be used in a story if I wrote one. It's much sketchier than what I'm used to, but I don't think it's all that bad. I'd appreciate a critique ^^

I dunno, do you guys think I outta dedicate some time into that story..?
